He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Hoekstra and Jessie Hoekstra (Boomsma); his brother Calvin Hoekstra; his grandson Dustin Hoekstra; and his pet Sam.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Hesterman; his children, Richard Hoekstra (Vickie) of Lostant, Linda Vogt (John) of Marietta, GA, Michael Hoekstra (Jenny) of Manville and Steven Hoekstra (Kerri) of Streator; his grandchildren, Sarah Klein (Jon), Jack, Elisabeth, Ryan Vogt, Andy, Haley, Alli, Nicholas, Joshua and Joseph Hoekstra; his great grandchildren, Alex and Ben Klein; and his siblings, Ted Hoekstra of Dowagiac, MI and Margaret Hoekstra of Hinsdale, IL..
