Morris L. Washington Obituary
Morris L. Washington, 68, of Streator passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 23rd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Born April 22, 1955 in Streator he was the son of Monroe and Etha Mae (Hollins) Washington.
He was married to Terri Gallup Washington. She survives in Streator.
He is also survived by his significant other, Linda Salisbury of Streator; daughters, Janette Washington of Oglesby, Lynette (Lee) Baker of Streator, Samantha Washington of Streator, Brandi (Adam) Vance of Streator, Jacqueline Robertson of Granville Carey (Jason) Osland of Kangley and Amber (Brad) Kauth of Streator; sons, Nathan (Anastasia) Stohr of Indianapolis, Eric Gallup of Colorado, Johnathan Threat of Streator Sean Gallup of Streator and Caleb Gallup of Ottawa; sisters, Dolly Washington, Valarie Washington, Alma Washington and Linda Jones all of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mayola Nelson; a brother, Charles Washington; a brother Arthur in infancy; and a brother in law, Marvin Jones, Jr.
Born in Streator he attended Ottawa Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School. He later attended University of Wisconsin – Superior.
He worked through the years for Nabisco and Streator Brick. He also worked as a bartender, and at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Mo was well known in the community and a friend to many. He was a referee and umpire for many different sports programs including the YMCA, girls' softball and men's softball to name a few. He also volunteered at the YMCA and coached basketball and softball through the years.
Memorials may be directed to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
