She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Sornberger and Jennie Sornberger (Swain); her husband Joseph D. Hirkala; her son Jim Hirkala; her grandchildren, Kirk Englert, Luke Englert, Miranda Englert and Crisandra Englert; her brother Arthur Sornberger; and her sister-in-law Dorothy Hirkala.

She is survived by: her great grandchild Clayton Enlgert; her grandsons-in-law, Josh Farrell and Michael Jennings; her sons-in-law, Daniel Wiley, Bill Englert, David Jackson and Randy Lene; her daughters, Carol Englert (Bill) of Streator, Cyndi Lene (Randy) of LaPlata and Sandy Jackson (David) of Hanceville, Alabama; her daughter-in-law Ada Hirkala of Streator; her grandchildren, Marie Farrell (Josh) of Streator, Alanna Jo Englert of Ottawa, Ashley Hirkala (Brent Anderson) of Streator, Joe Hirkala of Varna, Josh Besowshek (Dawn Jackson) of LaPlata, Seth Besowshek (Jen) of Lake St, Abbie Jennings (Michael) of LaPlata, Desiree Wiley (Daniel) of Cullman and Shannon McDonald (Brett) of Hanceville, Alabama; her siblings-in-law, George Hirkala, Gundy Sornberger and Ann Reed; and her friends, Pat Van Hyning, Mary Biros and Gen Majernik. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter.
