He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiemar Schmitt and Dorothy Schmitt (Gallick); his son Bradley David Schmitt; and his siblings, Kenneth and Diane.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Moran; his children, Amy Schmitt of Mahomet and Gary Schmitt (Dynae) of Pekin; his grandchildren, Cayden and Hailey; and his sister Ruth McGrath (Jay) of Streator.
