He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence W. Gillard and Ola "Babe" Gillard (Elkins); his wife Marie E. Schonert; and his siblings, Grant Gillard, Sherman "Junior" Gillard, Ilene Medler and Bernadine Smith.
He is survived by: his grandsons, Shayne Higgins, LaRon Higgins, Kyle Higgins, Trevon Spencer and Jarrett Spencer; his children, Barbara Jenkinson (Paul) of Azle, Gary Gillard of Utica and Pamela Spencer (Randy) of Streator; his grandchildren, Theresa Hill (Brandon) of Springdale and Tyler Wright (Megan) of Streator; and his great grandchildren, Savannah, Harrison Higgins, Sydney, Sophie and Bowen Wright. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
