He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Slack and Dolly Slack (Peters); his wife Wilma Mc Schooler; his stepfather Ted Reel; his grandson Michael Eggers; and his siblings, Richard, Herbert, Helen Preston and Mary Hatfield.
He is survived by: his children, Anna Blue of Pontiac, Belinda Ondrey (Gary) of Streator, Colleen Behrens (Scott) of Streator and Charles Slack Jr. (Deanna) of Davenport, IA; his siblings, James Slack (Janice) of Indiana, Thomas Reel (Mary) of Streator, Gordon "Dean" Reel (Kathy) of Louisiana, Beatrice Danko (Andrew) of Streator and Frances Frey (late Dave) of Kentucky; and his pet Rudy. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
