He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Amell and Lois Amell Sr. (Schroeder); his son-in-law David Hallowell; and his siblings, Louis Jr., Bruce, Neil, Ed, Don, Charles, Ellen Marshall, Marge Rodrick and Judy DeFrees.
He is survived by: his daughters, Karie Hallowell (Brian Durdan) of Streator and Angela Goluba (Eric Harcharik) of Streator; his grandchildren, Ashley Karth (Tim), Austin Goluba, Jasmin Hallowell (Kit) and Rheagan Goluba; his great grandchildren, Warren and Bradley Karth; his former wife Marcia Amell; and his brother-in-law Kurt Benckendorf (Jamie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Spinal Muscular Atrophy or the Streator American Legion.
