She was predeceased by: her parents, Glen H. Garretson and Beulah Garretson (Shoemaker); her son Robert G. Schaefer; and her siblings, Glenn "Bud", Charles, Kenneth Garretson and Anita Paul.

She is survived by: her husband Robert E. Schaefer; her daughters, Pamela Schaefer of Streator and Patty Jones (William) of Wenona; her daughter-in-law Jennifer Schaefer (Mark Frey) of Cincinnati; her grandchildren, Robert Baker (Susie), Kristi Mahadocon (Jeff), Jason Jones, Jennifer Thomas (Brandon), Joshua Jones (Kayla), Kelsey Schaefer (Glen Pomorski) and R. Scott Schaefer; her great grandchildren, Spencer, Parker Baker, Cole, Kinsley Jones and Josey Thomas; her sister-in-law Theresa Schaefer of Brentwood, TN; and her nephews, Gerry Garretson, Gary Garretson and Elwood Paul Garretson.

Memorials may be made in her name to either the OSF Hospice or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
