He is survived by: his children, Sarah Thurber-Fiorenza (Sam Fiorenza), Doug Thurber (Stacy Affatigato) and John Thurber (Carrie); and his grandchildren, Justin Reyburn, Kyle Thurber, Gina Fiorenza, Tony Fiorenza and Tori Thurber.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake.
