He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Hanauer and Louise Hanauer (Marsango); his daughter Ruth Ann Vandemark; and his brother Eddie Hanauer. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ellen Hanauer of Stonington; his children, Mary Gail Aleman (Juan) of Russell Springs, KY and Robert Hanauer II (Kris) of Taylorville; and his sister Patricia Hill of Pawnee. He is also survived by 4 granddaughters; 2 grandsons; 12 great grandchildren.
