He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Evelyn Shilling; his wife Shirley Johann of Stillman Valley; his children, Brenda Miller (Jeff) of Callaway and Steve Johann (Lisa) of Cincinnati; and his grandchildren, Nathan Miller of Lexington Park, Erika Miller of Greenville, Ashley Johann of Cincinnati and Alyssa Hubbard (Terence) of Cincinnati, Ohio..

“We just found out that Dick went home to be with the Lord. He was a special friend to Linda and I. His willingness to serve with me in the leadership of the Congregational Christian Church of Stillman Valley was so special. I remember going with him to an introductory meeting of Promise Keepers. We had stayed overnight in a motel, and the next morning went for a walk. During that walk he had offered to help me in the church. He was a faithful friend, teacher of Promise Keepers, deacon and elder.”
