He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Doris Helebrandt; his daughters, Susan Retzer (Martin) and Kay Nelson; his grandchildren, Robert Retzer (Christine), Michael Retzer (Elizabeth), Adam Nelson and Amy Nelson; his great grandchildren, Megan Retzer and Abigail Retzer; his sibling Vlasta Svoboda; his nieces, Linda Malone (James) and Nancy Berard (James); and his nephew Robert Svoboda (Phyllis).
