She was predeceased by: her parents, Allen Walker and Opal Walker (Beaman); her spouse Gardner J. Smith; her children, Elaine Schmidt, Donald E. Smith and David A. Smith; and her siblings, Darrell Walker (Jeanne) and Winifred Olson (Maurice).
She is survived by: her children, Sharen Thompson (Jack) of Steward and Richard Smith (Kathy Taylor) of Hickory Corners, MI; her grandchildren, Sheila Pinter (Jeff) of Malden, IL, Joel Thompson (Peg) of Rochelle, IL, Jared Thompson (Jan) of Rochelle, IL, Chris Smith (Amy) of Jerome, ID, Phillip Schmidt (Amber) of Hickory, NC, Josh Smith (Sarah) of Shabbona, IL, Justin Smith (Andrea) of Steward, IL and Brooke Cox (Chris) of Rochelle, IL; her great grandchildren, Jordyn, Hannah, Kyle, Corey Pinter, Cody, Hailey, Megan Thompson, Dempsey Smith, Rayna, Colson Schmidt, Tucker, Polly Jo, Trigg Smith, McKenzie, McKayla Smith and Colby Cox; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Nicole Green (Warren), Kevin Kane (Ali) and Hannah Kane (Mark Johnson); and her great great grandchildren, Kendall and Maggie Green. She is also survived by five nieces and two nephews.
Memorials may be made in Margaret's memory to the Steward United Methodist Church or to Serenity Hospice and Home.
