He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer and Esther (Dohner). He is survived by: his children, Marcia Ratliff and Douglas Behrens (Donna); his grandchildren, Jason Ratliff (Jennifer), Traci Shaw (Zack Wright), Brittany Spears (Brad) and Brandy Hall (Bryan); his great grandchildren, Allison, Abby Ratliff, Roan Shaw, Brianne, Bentley Spears and Renley Hall; his brothers, Jim, Ron, Jerry and John; and his significant other Audrey Behrens.

A memorial has been established to Christ Lutheran School and Milledgeville-Coleta Fire Department.
