He is survived by: his wife Leona Kurk; his children, John Dirks (Angel) of Chapmansboro, TN, Juli Oswald Stirling (Billy), David Dirks (Rebecca) of Clarksville, TN and Chris (Greg); his grandchildren, Bart Dirks (Meagan), Jay Dirks (Staci), Courtney Sleaford (Marcus), Nicholas Dirks (Elizabeth), Lacey Fee (Kevin), Taylor Dirks, Fiona Coppell (James), Victor Salinas (Hannah), Chad Dirks (Nina), Amanda Osborne (Matthew), Lucas Dirks (Devyn), Zoe Dirks, Ross Gallentine and Josie Gallentine; his great grandchildren, Peyson, Kylie Dirks, Wren, Briar Dirks, Henley Sleaford, Porter, Myles Dirks, Luke, Emma Fee, Henry, Tabitha Coppell, Isabella Salinas, Ty Kingrose (Joseph), Matthew, Jon Dirks, Gracie, Brantley Osborne and Ruth Dirks; his nephews, Kurt Harper and Steve Dirks; and his niece Barb Dirks Pierson. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to 1st Congregational Church, Whiteside County Education Conservation Foundation and St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
