She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Salger and Anna Salger (Higgerson); her son-in-law Donald Castle; her grandson-in-law Blake Morrison; and her siblings, Bill, George, Harry, Willard, Evelyn Carstens and Anita Mayer.
She is survived by: her husband Maurice W. Mayer of Steeleville; her children, Judy Wolters (Leland) of Steeleville and Shirley Castle of Carbondale; her grandchildren, Luis Wolters, Lizzy, Robbie Knop, Sarah Morrison and Julia Castle; her great grandchildren, Alex and Annie Knop; and her siblings, Alma June Knop of Perryville, MO, Junior Salger (Carolyn) of Salem, IL and Loretta Baiter of Farina, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (11854 Wine Hill Rd, Steeleville, IL 62288). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church "Art work" or Randolph County Humane Society and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
