He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shemonic and Sadie Harmon Shemonic; his children, Ronald and Nancy; his grandsons, Cody, Tyler and Adam; and his siblings, George Shemonic, Rudolph Shemonic, John Shemonic, Jr., Velma Maes, Wilma Kirkhover, Lavern Hogan and Clara Bremer.
He is survived by: his former wife Lela Mae Eggemeyer; his wife Lela Mae Shemonic of Steeleville; his children, Donald Shemonic (Linda) of Franklin, TN, David Shemonic (Lisa) of Rockwood, Cindy Vaughan (Gary) of Ball Ground, GA and Christine Brown (Eric) of Pflugerville, TX; his grandchildren, Amy, Kelly, Grant, Lochan and John; his great grandchildren, Collen, Brayden, Anna, Kaden and Lana; and his brother Roger Shemonic of Steeleville.
Memorials may be given to Honor Flight of Southern Illinois or the American Red Cross in the form of a monetary donation or blood donation in his memory.
