He was predeceased by: his parents, William D. Evans Sr. and Bessie Evans (Golden). He is survived by: his wife Gale Jennings; his children, Carla Prefountain (Steve) of Springfield, Becki Wilshusen (Ron) of Springfield, Crystal Craig (Jeremy) of Springfield and James J. Craig II of Springfield; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Kayleigh, Yaeger, Stephen, Matt, Corey, Austen, Jayson, Alexia, Alyanah, Kinzie and Raegan; and his sister Josephine Ushman of Springfield. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.
