He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Leigh and Marie Maude Cox Herndon; his wife Christine Janssen; his sisters, Donna Richards and Elaine Herndon; and his grandfather Abraham of Lincoln's Law.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Elaine Griffin (Robert) of Springfield, William H. Herndon, Jr. (Sarah Sever) and John Archer Herndon of West Milton, OH; and his siblings, Sharon Hill (John) and Ronald Herndon (Shearl) of Springfield. He is also survived by six grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
