He was predeceased by: his parents, Lynn E. Thornton and Musetta M. Thornton (Weaver); his brother Jerry D. Thornton; his father-in-law Reginald V. Simeon (Bud); and his brother-in-law Scott T. Simeon.
He is survived by: his wife Monica (Simeon); his children, Caitlyn H. Bee, Logan A. Thornton of St. Louis, MO, Jenna M. Thornton of Tulsa, OK and Nolan P. Thornton of Springfield, IL; his siblings, Lynette M. Jones (Edward) and David A. Thornton (Rena Bergstrom) of Springfield, IL; his mother-in-law Joan Simeon (LaTinis); and his siblings-in-law, Wendy Simeon (Wiegelman), Wade Simeon, Cole Simeon, Melinda Monson (Jon Eric), Matthew Simeon (Irene) and Erin Gump (Michael). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Park Foundation.
