He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Saavedra and Virginia Saavedra. He is survived by: his wife Valerie; his children, Heather Saavedra, Rick Saavedra (Julie) and Amanda Nickols (Chris); his grandchildren, Max, Mae, Emmett, Cole and Paige; and his sister Rita Rose Saavedra.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home (437 S Grand Ave W, Springfield, IL 62704). A memorial service was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Heart Association, a charity close to Richard's heart.
