It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nicholas Santos Hernandez-Renfro of Springfield, Illinois, who passed away on July 9, 2023, at the age of 36, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his daughter Mira Bella Renfro; and his brother Gerald "Jerry" Renfro. He is survived by: his parents, Elmer C. Renfro and Linda Hernandez Renfro (Hernandez) of Springfield; his wife Tiffany Liebe; his close friend T'Challa; and his sisters, Nicki Renfro of Springfield, Nani Hernandez of Springfield, Ericka A. White (Julius) of Springfield, Bianca Hernandez-Renfro of Springfield, Kristin Oden (Anthony) of Decatur and Ashleigh Meiburg (Ethan) of Iowa City, IA.. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
When our country struggled with a health pandemic and civil unrest, Nick was not deterred and shared his knowledge through podcast and instructional videos in an effort to fill a training void.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a scholarship fund, MartialArts4Youth.com, to support youth in underserved populations who need assistance in accessing mixed martial arts training to gain confidence and learn techniques that will assist them in facing adversities and challenges in life.
