He is survived by: his daughter Kim Trader (Jeff) of Rochester; his grandchildren, Sarah Trader of Rochester and Jared Trader (Marianna) of Glenview; his brother Donald Van Meter (Cherie) of Springfield; and his nephew Chad Van Meter (Emma).

A graveside service was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Camp Butler National Cemetery (5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL 62707).
