He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis P. Wabel and Grace Wabel (Miles); his siblings, Roberta Harney, Lois MacCormack, Opal Bogner, Clarence, Lewis Jr. and Robert Wabel; his brother-in-law Dallas Seitz; and his great grandchild Campbell Koons.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Wabel of Springfield; his daughters, Marcia McCormick (Dennis) of Springfield and Rita Fuchs (Kevin) of New Berlin; his grandchildren, Kasey McCormick of New York, NY, Colin McCormick (Erinn) of Easley, SC, Christopher Fuchs (Corinne), Claire Koons (Joshua) of Chatham, IL, Jacob Fuchs of New Berlin and Joshua Fuchs of New Berlin; his great grandchildren, Renley and Makenna Fuchs; and his sister-in-law Nancy Seitz of Moweaqua, IL. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
