He was predeceased by: his parents, Elex Hughes and Aurelia Hughes; and his siblings, Elex Hughes Jr., Robert Hughes, Dorothy Jones, Vera Lee Robinson and Irene Rice.
He is survived by: his wife Josie Hughes; his children, Gwendolyn Harrison (Ted), Aurelia Clark (Larry), James Hughes Jr. and Kevin Boston; his stepchildren, Valorie Cherry, Nicholas Willard and Hobson Cherry; and his sisters, Mary Less Williams, Cassie Johnson, Lebertha Hughes and Ramonia Robinson.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church (1601 E Laurel St, Springfield, IL 62703). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
