He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Claunch and Hazel Powers Claunch; his wife Mary Justine Metzger; and his siblings, Basil, Edward, Gene Claunch and Barbara Hooker.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Claunch of Taos, NM, Mike Claunch (Holly) of Springfield, Mary Lynn King of Indianapolis, IN, Patty Hanson (Steve) of Plainfield, Dave Claunch (Monica Jenot) of Springfield and Greg Claunch of Chicago. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
