He is survived by: his children, James A. III (Carlena), Vicky L. Moore, Deborah K. Johnson-Small, Linda R. Goza (Roger) and Diane D. Geary (Richard); his grandchildren, Chavet N. Johnson (Chelsie R. Brown), James T. Moore (William D. Moore), Kevin A. Moore (Ashia M. Love) and Bryanna D. (Christina R. Geary); and his siblings, Franklin, Harold Johnson, Norma J. Meek, Charlotte Pounders and Carolyn Johnson. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
