He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard F. Spain and Mary Spain (Dean); his siblings, Harvey Spain, Shirley Utterbach and Mary Kidd; and his granddaughter Jackie Hammond.
He is survived by: his wife Emma Joan Funk; his sons, David Spain of Florida and Stephen Spain of Indiana; his grandson Clayton Spain; his great grandchild Michael Emmerson; and his brother Louis Spain. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
