It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Green Myrel Simmons Jr. of Springfield, Illinois, born in Flora, Mississippi, who passed away on May 10, 2024, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Irene Simmons, and Green Myrel Simmons, Sr.; his wife Elois Williams; and his siblings, Charlie, Tommie, Henry, Jarrett, Ertheleen, Bessie, Thelma, Daisy and Irene.
He is survived by: his children, Myrel, Philip and Elaine; his grandchildren, Jason, Tanisha and Felecia; his great grandchildren, Geoffrey, Janiya, Galisa, A'nyia, Aleya, Emory, Elani and Alayna; his great great grandchild Kylin; and his siblings-in-law, Arquilla Simmons, Berniece Williams, Yvonne Williams, Juanita Williams and Priestly Williams (Loretta). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
