Genevieve McEvoy Obituary
Genevieve "Jennie" McEvoy, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born August 26, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of Richard and Margaret Bowman Sponsler.
Jennie is survived by four daughters, Debbie McEvoy of Riverton, Kathy McEvoy of Springfield, Barbara Girard of Williamsville, Lori McEvoy of Springfield; one son, Tommy McEvoy of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Michael Tuma, Angela Henik, Jennifer Wojcik, Kimberly McEvoy, Matt McEvoy, and Thomas McEvoy; fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Moats, Barbara K. Barnes, and Linda Moats, all of Springfield and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; one daughter, Terriann Tuma; one grandson, Jason Tuma; two brothers, Richard Sponsler and Bobby Joe Sponsler; two sisters, Beverly Kuizin and Shirley Jackson.
Jennie retired from American International Group (AIG) as a claim's adjustor after several years of service. She enjoyed many different hobbies including gardening, watching golf and tennis, going to the Illinois State Fair, watching cooking shows, and vacationing, especially at Panama City Beach. She was best known as "Grandma Jennie" and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
