He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert John and Evelyn M. Maurer Groth; his wife Mildred E. Washko; and his siblings, Robert John Groth II, Emil Paul "Bud" Groth, Laura Groth and Evelyn "Roberta" Groth.
He is survived by: his son Joseph Groth of Springfield; his sister Doris Schrock (James) of St. Charles, MO; and his close friend Bonnie Davis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
