He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy H. Ludwig and Florence Faith Ludwig (Wagner); his stepmother Iris Ludwig; and his siblings, Dennis Ludwig and Patricia Turnbull.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ludwig of Springfield; his children, Cherie Montgomery (Jim) of St. Charles, MO, Richard Ludwig (Kim) of St. Charles, MO and Chad Ludwig (Jenn) of Springfield, IL; his grandchildren, Regina Gantner, Zachary, Danielle, Elizabeth Holland (Michael Barbara), Michael, Anthony, Marinda, Beckett and Rowan Ludwig; his great grandchildren, Evan Holland and TJ Ludwig; his siblings, Leroy Ludwig (Kay) and Vicki Petrowski; and his siblings-in-law, Patti Ludwig and Denny Turnbull. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
