He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Tertel and Louise Kovalik Tertel; his wife Leona Ruth Nika; and his sister Esther Holtzen. He is survived by: his children, Kelly Phillips (Bill) of Springfield, Kay Sill (Lyndon) of Petersburg and Kim Elmdanat (Robert) of Channahon; his grandchildren, Donald Kauffman, Emily Boatman, Abagail Madanat, Kirsten Herkert and Steven Smythe; and his siblings, Bernice Mihelsic of Springfield, Lil Marzinzik of Springfield, Helen Busarow of Collinsville and Bob Tertel of Racine, WI. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Moraine Valley Church for Student Camp Scholarships.
