As Darlene departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Darlene may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Darlene leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Arlie Draper and Margaret Draper (Sondergroth); her husband John E. Dowding; and her sons, Patrick and John K. Dowding.

She is survived by: her children, Debbie Werner (Wayne) of Sherman, IL, Tim Dowding (Shirley) of Garland, TX, Rick Dowding of Oglesby and Mike Dowding (Marcia) of Blue Springs, MO; her daughter-in-law Peggy Dowding of Dixon; her brother Ken Draper of Purcell, OK; and her half-sister Cindy Lopez of Dixon. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (312 Park St, DePue, IL 61322). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 11:15 AM at the same location.
