He was predeceased by: his father Charles Ely; and his brother Robert "Gus" Ely. He is survived by: his former wife Nancy Morris; his mother Rita Ely of Putnam; his wife Nancy Ely of Spring Valley; his daughters, Connie Ely, Katie Ely and Sara Ely of Spring Valley; his siblings, Steve Ely (Laura) of Dixon, Dave Ely of Putnam, Bill Ely of Putnam, Kevin Ely (Debbie) of Granville and Charlene Ryckaert (Dave) of La Moille; and his grandchildren, Sophie and Odin.
