He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Hunter and Mary Ellen Bowers; his son James "Jimmy" Sampsel; and his brother Robert Maynard Bowers. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Bambi Wilber (Joe), Kenny Bowers Jr. (Maria), Brian Sampsel Sr. (Donna), Rob Bowers Sr. (Jaylynn), Laure Taylor (Tony) and Briana Beckman (Mike); his grandchildren, Jimmy, Nick, Brian Jr., Kylie, Natalie, Shelby, Stephen, Mary Ellen, Lauren, Grace, Robert Jr., Jonathan, Caden, Steve, Michael, Joey, Jason, Jeff, Kenneth III, Alexa and Jacob; his great grandchild Aurora; his nephew Bobby Bowers; and his niece Valerie Rich. He is also survived by nine other great-grandchildren.
