She was predeceased by: her son William; her parents, Ruth Ella Smith and James T. Hatchett, Sr.; and her siblings, Barbara Jean, Juanita Pullen, Bill Hatchett, James T. Hatchett, Jr. and William Christopher Hatchett.
She is survived by: her husband Abraham Monroe; her children, Kenneth Norwood, Avontes Monroe (Michell), Arkeitha May (Michael) and Alissa Britt (Corey); her daughter-in-law Rosalind Penny; her grandchildren, Camika Penny, Kwan Penny, NaKeshia Kirksey, Cameron Monroe, Avontis Britt, Samia Britt, Anara Britt, Ilan Britt, Aria Britt and Millie Monroe; her siblings, Gwendolyn Smith, Delphine "Dee Dee" Moss, Edward "Penny" Hatchett, Jerry Hatchett and Garfield Hatchett; and her friend Eileen "Till" Merideth. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
