He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Appel and Pulley Appel (Pierce); and his siblings, Carl Appel and Bertha Russell. He is survived by: his wife Ina Appel (Tanner) of Sparta, IL; his daughters, Peggy Dickerson (Barry) of Mascoutah, IL and Patty Valleroy (Greg) of Sparta, IL; his grandchildren, Cassie Weber (Jonathan), Tom Cowell (Ashley), Catalina Kulikova and Allie Valleroy; his great grandchildren, Leah Weber, Alaina Weber, Berlyn Cowell and Baylor Cowell; and his siblings, Bob Appel (Linda) of Steeleville, IL, Madeline Bergfeld (Art) of Sparta, IL and Evelyn Richmond of Cutler, IL..
