He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, Robert Hargis of Happy Valley, OR, David Hargis (Jean) of Sparta, IL, Mary Jo Henry (Brad Pranger) of Caseyville, IL and Richard Hargis (Lisa) of Highland, IL; his niece Joyce Piel (Ralph) of Bowling Green, KY; his nephew Bruce Hargis (Daria) of Tallahassee, FL; and his sister-in-law Willa Dietz. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sparta First United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
