He was predeceased by: his father Homer Edward Markel. He is survived by: his mother Reba Juanita Markel (Conway) of Sparta, IL; his daughter Jamie McCollum (Joe Amtmann) of Wood River; and his siblings, Linda Hirsch, Michelle Groves, Rick Markel, Homer "Chip" Markel and Art Markel.
