It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bertha R. Russell (Sparta, Illinois), who passed away on July 11, 2019, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jacob A. Appel and Puley Elizabeth Appel (Pierce). She is survived by: her daughters, Laura Maynard (Tony) of Marissa, Jennifer Hecht (Dennis) of Chester and Sally Hargan (Aaron) of Carbondale; and her siblings, Lloyd Appel (Ina) of Sparta, Bob Appel (Linda) of Steeleville, Madeline Bergfeld (Art) of Sparta and Evelyn Richmond of Cutler. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
