He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth "Ruby" Murphy Lewis and Roy Lewis; his children, Michael Lewis and Joyce Essary; his granddaughters, Debra Skaggs Wolske and Melinda Essary Jones; and his siblings, Logan, Robert, Thomas, Ruth Walker, Jenny Fagot and Helen Jean Davis.
He is survived by: his daughter Bonnie Skaggs (Elward "Tuffy") of Lacon; his siblings, Roy Lewis of Chillicothe and Fannie Mae McKillip of Galesburg; his grandchildren, Sherry Wallace (Russell) of Peoria, Anita DeNolf (Brian) of Rockford and Eldon Essary of Lacon; his son-in-law Jerry Essary of Henry; his grandson-in-law Lewis Hunt of Sparland; and his wife Audrey. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
