It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James G. Smolik of South Wilmington, Illinois, who passed away on June 17, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto, Jr. Smolik and Elvira Lillian Smolik; and his wife Mary Lou Smolik. He is survived by: his children, Monty Smolik (Natalie) of Diamond, IL and Michelle Sorensen (Mark) of Texarkana, TX; his grandchildren, Abbie Bussey (Landon), Adam Sorensen (Hannah), Mackenzie Smolik, Macallister Smolik (Cassandra) and Madeleine Smolik; his great grandchildren, Mattis, Bowen Bussey and Caden James Smolik; his brother John R. Smolik (late Jeanne) of South Wilmington; his cousin Mary Kaye Gerrish; and his nieces and nephews, Jason, Jeff Smolik, Tara Brooks and Tadd Gerrish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church or the South Wilmington Volunteer Fire Department would be appreciated.
