It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James W Atherton of South Elgin, Illinois, born in Olmsted, Illinois, who passed away on March 25, 2022, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Atherton and Agathel Atherton (Ervin); his wife Frances; his sister Norma Lee; and his close friend Shirley Kraus.

He is survived by: his daughter Judith Ann Berlin (Mike); his grandsons, Matthew Lindquist (Jessamyn), Michael Lindquist (Nikki) and Patrick Berlin; and his great grandchildren, Mia Eve, Christian, Lincoln and Charlie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the trust being set up for the great grandchildren.
