He was predeceased by: his wife Gayle Scheibel; his sons, Gerard E. Scheibel and Joseph A. Scheibel; his parents, August Scheibel and Rose Scheibel; and his siblings, Delores Thouvenot (Melvern) and Ralph Scheibel.
He is survived by: his children, Christine M. Soucy (Stephen) of Belleville, IL, Marjorie A. Werner (August) of Belleville, IL, Therese M. Hottenrott (Richard) of Smithton, IL, Joan A. Biekert (Mark) of Smithton, IL, James R. Scheibel (Julie) of Fort Worth, TX, Angela F. Thomas (James) of Wildwood, MO, William M. Scheibel (Christina) of Millstadt, IL, Cheryl J. Michael (Patrick) of Fairview Heights, IL, Jerome R. Scheibel (Gwendelyn) of Millstadt, IL and Maria J. Watts (Jason Muelchi) of Belleville, IL.; and his sister Shirley Bauer of Belleville, IL. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (10 S Lincoln St, Smithton, IL 62285). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
