He was predeceased by: his mother Dolores H. Messina (Buriegi); and his siblings, Della McGinnis (Ron) and Frank. He is survived by: his father Frank P. Messina; his daughters, Melissa Johnson (Gary) and Nicole Coudrier (Regis); his grandchildren, Jayce, Camden, Enzo and Izola; his brother Tony; his nephew Todd McGinnis; and his nieces, Lisa McGinnis and Megan Tortoriello (Dexter).
