It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ellen Scandale of Skokie, Illinois, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on March 5, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Dr. Walter J. Filipek; her sister Mary Filipek; and her former husband Silvano Scandale. She is survived by: her son Steven Scandale (Tammy); her siblings, Sharon Welch (Joseph) of Hannibal, MO, Dr. Walter J. Filipek (Barbara) of South Bend, IN and Bruce Filipek of Notre Dame, IN; and her pets, Cosette, Vervienne and Etoile. She is also survived by her 12 nieces and nephews and 22 great-nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Alexian Brothers Hospice and/or Write Way Animal Shelter.
