He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard C. VanDeWalle and Joanne H. VanDeWalle (Rumler); his former spouse Joette "Jody" Long; and his siblings, Teresa VanDeWalle-Weiland, Michael VanDeWalle and Edward VanDeWalle.

He is survived by: his fiancée Myra Roelens; his children, Amanda Betts (Alex) and Jeremy VanDeWalle; his grandchildren, Coltyn and Brody; and his siblings, Vickie Peel (Jack), Barb Adams, Pam McWane (George) and Ron VanDeWalle (Gina). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
