Joseph Sandoval, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away gently in his hometown of Silvis, IL, on September 7, 2023. He was born on July 24, 1935, to Joseph G. and Carmen (Morales) Sandoval. Known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and gentle spirit, Joseph's legacy is one of love, hard work, and dedication to his family and community.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Rita; his loving daughter, Carmen, and her husband, Dana Fritz; his son, Robert Sandoval and his wife, Celia. He was an adored grandfather to Chad (Angie) Fritz, Kimberly (Fritz), Joshua (Dawn) Fritz, and Vito (Jessi) Sandoval. Joseph was also a cherished great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren; sisters RuFina Guerrero and Mary (Phil) Garza; brothers Oscar (Sally), Charlie (Ruby), and Fred; sister-in-law Emma Sandoval; many nieces and nephews, compadres and comadres, and very dear friend Pastor Donnie Plemons. His parents, son Denny, brothers William, Ruben, Harry, and Alphonse, a sister, Valencia, and twin brothers at birth, predeceased him.
Joseph was a hardworking man known for his dedication and proficiency in his work. He spent many years as a machinist at the Rock Island Lines Railroad, a job he took great pride in. His industrious nature also led him to the construction field, where he found joy in building homes and working with concrete. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he brought the same level of commitment and passion to every task he undertook.
Joseph was a Golden Gloves boxer in his younger years, demonstrating his strength and determination. This fighting spirit was evident throughout his life, not just in the boxing ring but also in his everyday endeavors. He was a man who never backed down from a challenge and faced every obstacle with courage and grace.
Beyond his professional and personal accomplishments, Joseph was deeply involved in his community. He volunteered at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, where he deeply loved and found great purpose. He was a familiar face at church events and was always ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
Above all, Joseph was a family man. He cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his love for them was evident in his every action. He was a pillar of strength for his family, providing support, guidance, and endless love. His warm smile and gentle demeanor made every family gathering a joyous occasion, and his absence will be deeply felt.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Moline. The interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.
