He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Deters and Laura Deters (Feldhake); his wife Barbara Helmink; his brother Bill; his daughter Marilyn; and his son-in-law Larry Wendt.
He is survived by: his children, Dave (Patty) of Grand Junction, CO, Brian (Kathy) of Fredericksburg, VA, Bruce (Lynn) of Montrose, Debra Wendt of Effingham, Vicky Gress (Tim) of Mansfield and Lylah Flach (Kevin) of Montrose; and his siblings, Robert of Teutopolis, Harold of Decatur and Bernice Broom of Teutopolis. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Lillyville Building Fund.
